Intro to Washington State

Washington State is located in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. It borders British Columbia, Canada to the north and Oregon State to the south and Idaho to the east. Washington State was named after George Washington, who was the first President of the United States and this is the only U.S. state to be named after a former U.S. President.

One of the biggest tourist attractions in Washington State is the Cascades, which is a mountain range that dominates the centre of the state. The highest peak in Washington State is Mount Rainer, which has an elevation of over 4300m.  The rainforests in the west of the state are some of the oldest trees still standing in the U.S.

The biggest city in Washington State is Seattle, which has over 65% of the population. Also, Seattle is the business, industry and transportation centre of the state.
