Intro into Switzerland

Switzerland is a beautiful mountainous country with a population of just over 7 million it’s nestled in the middle of Europe. Its products are sought after the world over, from dangerously delicious cheese and chocolate to luxurious watches whose timekeeping is as sharp as a Swiss army knife, another popular export from this clever little nation in the Alps. There are three official languages German (spoken by 65% of the population), French (20%), and Italian (8%). A fourth language is Rhaeto – Romantic, or Romansch, which is spoken by less than 1%. Switzerland has managed to stay neutral in most international disputes around the world. The only war Switzerland has been involved in was WW1, where they organized Red Cross units.

When the rest of Europe was rebuilding after both World Wars, Switzerland was strengthening its financial and commercial hold on Europe. Switzerland has one of the world's lowest levels of unemployment, coupled with one of the highest concentrations of major employers in the world. Major financial institutions are looking for candidates from other countries and applying for permits on their behalf. The main opportunities are in accounting, finance, or working with one of the world's leading investment banks and blue-chip commercial companies.

If you are after a change of lifestyle, Switzerland won't disappoint. With 20 percent of the working population on work permits, as there are added bonus, ski resorts in the winter are rarely an hour away, while the rest of the continent is within driving distance. The standard of living is quite high, so be ready to spend a lot of money. In 2001, two years after the inauguration of the Euro, the Swiss people voted in a referendum to see if it would like to join the EU, but the it didn’t pass and the country has vowed never to join the European Union.

Switzerland is one of the most beautiful countries we have ever seen. On the other hand it is one of the most expensive countries we've been to as well. We have only been to Geneva and Zurich, but what we have seen of this country we would definitely recommended it either summer or winter.
