When you arrive in Germany

Berlin


Berlin is a huge city and because of its past it has many airports. The newest one to the city is the Berlin Brandenburg Airport, which opened in the summer of 2012.

 

Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER)

This is Berlin's newest airport and its expected that every second passenger will travel to this new airport using public transport. The Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) can be accessed quickly and reliably by rail or bus. There is a train station directly below the terminal and from here its only a few minutes to the check-in area.

The journey from the main Berlin train station (Hauptbahnhof) only takes 30 minutes with the Airport Express. Rapid transit lines (S9 and S45) also offers a direct connection in 10-minute intervals. Travellers coming from Potsdam will be at BER in 42 minutes using the regional rail RB22. Along with other regional trains, long-distance trains also stop at BER.

 


Berlin - Tegel (TXL)

This airport is located approx. 8 km northwest of the city. Buses number X9 and 109 leave to go to the city every 5 - 10 minutes. This journey takes approx. 25 minutes. The price will cost you around €1.50. For more information go to www.berlin-airport.de

 


Berlin - Schonefeld (SXF)

This airport is located 20 km southeast of the city. The Airport Express trains leave from Zoo station every 30 minutes. The train also stops at the rest of the stations along the central train line including Friedrichstrasse and Ostbahnhof. Berlin - Tempelhof (THF)


This airport is located 6 km southeast of the city. Bus number 119 will take you to the city center. It departs every 5 - 10 minutes. The journey will take 15 minutes. Train lines 6 and 7 leave every couple of minutes. The journey will take approx. 20 minutes. For more information go to www.berlin-airport.de

 

 

 

 

Frankfurt


The Flughafen Frankfurt/Main Airport is located 10 km (7 miles) southwest of the city and is the largest in Germany. For more information on Flughafen Frankfurt/Main Airport go to www.frankfurt-airport.de


Car Rental

If you want to rent a car go to the second level where there are many car rental companies located there.


Bus

If you want to take the bus into town take the 61 or 62 which leaves every 25 minutes.


Train

If you would like to take the train (S-Bahn) S8 it goes to Mainz and Wiesbaden. The journey will take approx. 25 minutes.

 

 

 

 

Munich


The Munich International Airport is located 28.5 km (18 miles) northwest of the city. For more information on Munich International Airport go to www.munich-airport.de


Train

The journey to Munich’s central station (Hauptbahnhof) takes 40 minutes and the S1 and S8 run from 3:30am-12 midnight.  Tickets cost €10.80 for an all day ticket, but keep in mind these prices can change.


Taxi

The average taxi fare between the airport and city will cost €55.


Bus

The Airport City Bus runs every 20 minutes to the Hauptbahnhof. There is also a coach service called Oberbayern that runs every 10 minutes to the city centre.

 

 

 

Cologne / Bonn


The Cologne / Bonn International Airport is located 14km southeast of Cologne and 20km northeast of Bonn. Express bus no. 170 goes to Cologne every 15-30 minutes and Express bus no. 670 goes to Bonn every 20 minutes. You can get taxis outside the terminal building.

 

 

 

Düsseldorf


The Düsseldorf International Airport is located 7km north of the city centre. Trains depart to the city every 20 minutes. You can return from Hauptbahnhof, which is the main railway station every 30 minutes. You can get taxis outside the terminal building. Hamburg


Hamburg International Airport is located 9km north of the city centre. Coaches go to the city every 20 minutes and return from Zentral Omnibus Bahnhof Kirchenallee. The Airport City Line bus runs every 20 minutes from 0500-2300 to the city centre. Express bus no. 110 runs every 10 minutes to Ohlsdorf Station and it takes 9 minutes to get to the city centre. Hannover

Dresden
